About MATH
Math is a card game utilizing a deck of one hundred cards numbered from 1 to 100. It is similar to "rummy" games, except that matches are made using mathematical operations. Up to six players may play the game, but it is probably most interesting as a game of solitaire.
The Game
Playing the game:
The game is played the same no matter how many players. All players are dealt eight cards and one card is turned over in the discard pile. The player to the left of the dealer has the first turn.
A turn consists of attempting to use the cards in the player's hand with the card in the discard pile in some simple mathematical operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division). If the player is successful then he completes his turn by discarding an additional card from his hand. If the player cannot find a solution using the cards he already has, he must draw two new cards from the draw pile and once again attempt to use any of the cards he now holds with the card in the discard pile. Whether or not he is successful, the player completes his turn by discarding one of his cards. The play continues in a clockwise direction.
Winning the game:
The first player to run out of cards wins the game.
Keeping score (two to six players):
The total of all cards still held by other players is the winning player's score.
Keeping score (solitaire):
The number of cards still remaining in the draw pile is your score. Perfect score: 91
Computer notes:
Make a play by clicking the cards and the operations in the same sequence as the mathematical expression(96 / 16 = 6 or
17 + 24 + 26 = 67). Since addition and multiplication are
associative operations, you may use more than three cards in
your computations. This is not true of subtraction and division.
Once the DISCARD button appears, it must be clicked before
choosing the card.
To cancel the discard or any other operation, use the RESET
button.
